Rydalmere Public School is a PBL School. Positive Behaviour for Learning, otherwise known as PBL is a school wide behaviour initiative currently in use at a number of Western Sydney schools. It employs a whole school systems approach to address problem behaviour and reduce its effects on student outcomes and on the school community as a whole. PBL encourages positive behaviour from students, which has been shown to improve their self concept and motivation to learn. BPL is an initiative of Wester Sydney Region.
We have a school banner which incorporateds our school rules and reflects our positive outcome of behaviour and expectations. It is:
We are safe, respectful learners who belong.
At the beginning of each school year the students within each class brainstorm what these rules mean to them and set parameters associated with each rule. These are constantly on review.
Students learn most effectively in a secure, ordered and safe environment in which they and staff take pride in their achievements. A positive and consistent approach to discipline helps to ensure that the rights and responsibilites of individuals are maintained.
